One extended cruise circling Australia was terminated following the tragic passing of an senior woman who was left behind by the cruise liner on a remote coastal location.

The passenger had been trekking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the party for a break. The liner sailed away leaving her and came back after some time after the crew discovered the passenger was missing.

A major search operation found her person the following day.

Authorities are investigating the incident, together with police and the state coroner.
