Multiple Affected as Turbulence Impacts Delta Flight Arriving in Sydney
Multiple passengers and crew have been injured following a Delta Airlines flight traveling from LA to Sydney, Australia was hit by significant turbulence on Friday morning.
Delta Flight 41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it touched down at Sydney Airport, an airline spokesperson stated. Four flight attendants sustained injuries.
Emergency medical services reported they assessed a total of five people, and transferred a trio to hospital with minor injuries that such as back pain and head pain. The injured were between their thirties and seventies.
This marks the newest example of planes being hit by atmospheric disturbance, with researchers pointing out that climate change is a key driver.
On board were nearly 250 travelers and fifteen staff members on the aircraft, the Delta spokesperson noted, stating that the plane touched down "safely and normally" at the airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on the day in question.
The NSW Ambulance Service reported they were alerted just a mere three minutes ahead of the plane landed, and emergency vehicles were ready and waiting at the airport.
